About Us

The Community Foundation of Northern Colorado serves as a community think tank, a catalyst for community projects, a service provider to philanthropists and nonprofit organizations, and a trusted steward of long-term and often complex gift arrangements. We manage and administer more than 500 charitable funds and over $110 million in assets (as of June 30, 2018).  Donations to our funds are tax deductible and grants from the funds are distributed to public charities, schools, and churches based on the charitable intent of our donors. Our staff and board are 100% local, and we have served Northern Colorado since 1975.

our services to donors

We offer individual donors the option of creating a highly customized charitable fund to carry out their unique charitable intent.  Fund options include donor advised funds, scholarship funds, and designated funds. Donor advised funds provide our donors with an easy-to-establish charitable fund having many of the same advantages of a private foundation, i.e. the ability to give to the causes they care about most.  We provide services to help donors organize and maximize their charitable giving, both during and after their lifetimes. The Community Foundation also handles complex non-cash gifts (real estate, mineral interests, closely held stock, etc.) and serves as the trustee of charitable trusts. We do all this with the personal touch of a local nonprofit organization small enough to know all of our donors and large enough to operate with great efficiency. Our donors have online access to their funds providing them with a permanent record of all gift and grant transactions.  Even more importantly, our donors have the ability to call or drop by our office for personal assistance from a staff member who knows them by name.

Our staff stands ready to serve as your trusted advisor in local philanthropy. Contact us to share your charitable dreams, and we’ll share our ideas for how we can add value to your vision.
