Competitive Grant Cycle

Each summer we invite charitable organizations that serve Berthoud, the Estes Valley, or Loveland residents to submit a grant application for consideration by our grantmaking committees. Fort Collins grantmaking committee does not participate in the Competitive Grant cycle. It does, however, accept grant requests on a rolling basis following discussion with the Donor Services Manager. (An agency that is located in Fort Collins may submit a grant application to the Berthoud or Loveland grantmaking committees as long as the agency's funding request meets the criteria.)

Funding decisions are typically made by early November.

Deadline: Monday, July 22, 5 p.m.

  • An organization may submit only one application during our annual competitive grant cycle.

  • An agency located outside of the named communities may submit a grant application to the grantmaking committees of the communities named above if the agency's funding request meets the established criteria.

  • If you navigate away from the application before clicking "Submit," we will not receive your application.

  • After clicking "Submit" at the bottom of the application, you will be redirected to the Community Foundation's home page and will soon receive a confirmation email at the address you specify on the form. Please type your email address carefully: If your email address contains a typo, you won't receive a confirmation email or any follow-up emails regarding your funding request.

The confirmation email you receive will include a link to “Edit your submission”. You may use that link to revise your submission until 5 p.m. on Monday, July 22.

grants and program distributions

The Community Foundation of Northern Colorado made $12.7 million in grant and program distributions during the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2018. The majority of our grants are made from Donor Advised and Designated funds; typically less than 2% of our annual distributions are made as part of our annual competitive grant cycle, which is described below. Click here to view a list of all grant recipients from 2017 - 2018.

The Community Foundation makes grants to 501(c)(3) charitable entities, educational institutions, churches, or municipalities. We do not make grants to individuals or businesses.

The GroupGives Fund serves as the charitable arm of The Group Real Estate. The fund was founded on the belief that every person should have a place to call home, and grants from the fund support organizations and programs that promote this belief. Click here to learn more.
