2017-2018 Scholarship Applications Now Available

The Community Foundation is honored to work with donors who make an impact on the lives of students from Northern Colorado and the Eastern Plains through scholarship funds established at the Foundation.

The 2017-2018 scholarship application cycle is now open. Students are invited to complete a brief general application online that will automatically match them to the scholarship awards for which they qualify. Scholarship opportunities range from $1,000 to complete funding of tuition, fees, and room/board.

Nonprofit Loan Fund

The Community Foundation now offers a unique vehicle to achieve greater community impact. Nonprofit loan financing is available to charitable organizations that are located in, and serving the residents of, Northern Colorado and the Eastern Plains of Colorado. Loan funding is intended primarily to assist with timing issues surrounding pledge receivables, payment of an approved government or foundation contract, or some other verifiable form of repayment.

The first nonprofit loan will allow local nonprofit No Barriers USA to build a field campus in Red Feather Lakes to host youth summer camps, expeditions for veterans, and retreats for the various constituents the organization serves. Click here to learn more about this specific loan fund opportunity.

Donor Advised Funds with $25,000 or more available to distribute may invest in our nonprofit loan fund, helping to fund a loan to a specific nonprofit organization.  As the loan is paid back, the fund will be replenished, and the amount is once again available to be granted. For more information, please contact Ella Fahrlander, Vice President | Community Engagement.

Colorado Open Lands Match Successfully Completed

In March of 2016 Colorado Open Lands merged with the Legacy Land Trust, which began in 1993 as the Larimer Land Trust and conserved 43,000 acres through 109 conservation easements. The goal  of this merger is to increase the pace, quality, and permanence of land and water conservation in Northern Colorado. A critical aspect of this merger was the requirement to increase the stewardship endowment from $600,000 to $800,000 to meet national standards and support local conservation efforts.

To support local land conservation, the Foundation issued a 1:3 challenge grant of $50,000. We are happy to announce COL has successfully raised the $150,000 match to fully fund its Northern Colorado Stewardship Endowment.
